We’re on a mission to make “IF” happen for kids across atlanta.

At IF Academy, it is our vision that every child in Atlanta has an equal opportunity to support a thriving 21st century workforce by becoming proficient in STEM.

To do so, we have to start encouraging our youth to ask, “what IF?”. This simple question will train our future leaders, neighbors, and workers to solve the complex challenges of today and tomorrow. For the greater Atlanta area in particular, access to the necessary resources to create STEM capable citizens, are minimal.

We recognize the crucial need to provide STEM education in the underrepresented communities within Atlanta, so that more K-12 individuals have an equal opportunity to pursue pathways in Career Technical Education, and emerge into STEM disciplines fully confident as entrepreneurs or industry employees.

ONLY 9% OF THE STEM WORKFORCE IS BLACK.

Since 2016, the number of black students earning STEM degrees and entering the industry has not changed. Discrimination, bias, and lack of academic resources play a key role in why less than 10% of those entering STEM, pursue jobs in science, tech, engineering or math.

Our initiative, CODE \ BLACK was launched to be that key resource and support kids’ success through to college & beyond.

Meet our Team of mentors & ‘if’ Makers

Founder & Executive Director

Yoofi Dowell

He is a former educator with over 20 years of experience working in Title I Schools and with juvenile offenders, to create and implement academic programming and curricula for students ranging from Toddlers in Pre-Kindergarten through the spectrum of education to undergraduate students in College.

Transitioning from education to entrepreneurship, Yoofi found his passion in the nonprofit space to help other individuals discover and monetize their passions by use of technology.
